Theresa Magelky, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist (ND)
Dr. Theresa Magelky recieved her BS in Psychology and Social and Behavioral Science at the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND in 2001. She then went on to recieve her MA in Counseling at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND in 2009. Afterward, she got her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counseling Psychology at the University of Grand Forks, ND in 2013. Before Solutions, she has worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, a military base, Department of Veterans Affairs, and community mental health. She is a part of the American Psychological Association.
She is a Licensed Psychologist in North Dakota with a specialty in working with clients with trauma, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, serious mental illness including psychosis, and borderline personality disorder. She performs a variety of psychological services including individual therapy and conduct diagnostic assessment and psychological testing and evaluations for developmental disorders, cognitive and intellectual impairments, memory testing, ADHD, trauma, and mental illness in adults. She has also conducted evaluations to assist in determining mental capacity with respect to legal decision-making. She works primarily with adults, as well as teenagers, and have a special affinity for working with military Veterans.
Dr. Magelky says she enjoys and feels privileged to walk with each client on their journey as they face challenges, guiding them to become empowered and find their own voice. She says she believes it is crucial to view each person as a unique individual who is the expert of their own life, to celebrate their diversity, and carefully adapt treatment to fit them. She values using evidence-based practices (EBPs) in order to provide the most favorable outcome. In her freetime, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, her beloved Dachshunds, reading, music, and traveling and exploring new places.
