Megan Schmidt
Megan Schmidt received her bachelor of arts degree from Minnesota State University - Moorhead in 2008 and went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from this university in 2011. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in MN. Ms. Schmidt has been employed by Solutions’ Alexandria office since 2012, initially working as a mental health practitioner to assist children and adults with learning skills to improve mental health functioning. She subsequently worked as a supervisor for outreach staff.
Ms. Schmidt enjoys working with individuals of all ages and has been trained in the DC:0-5 model, which allows her to assess individuals from birth through age five. She has training in several evidence-based practices, including: Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP), Incredible Years Parenting Program, which assists with developing positive caregiver-child relationships and works to prevent and treat behavior problems; Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) used to treat children and adolescents with histories of trauma; and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), a trauma treatment. She is passionate about treating individuals with trauma, though has a caseload with a variety of mental health concerns across the life span. Ms. Schmidt values being present for her clients and allowing a safe place for clients to explore their mental health concerns. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, and relaxing at the lake.
